My second-year bleeding heart is not sprouting yet. Am I just too anxious? When should it sprout? I am in central NC.

one of the last to show up

it will show up.. when the soil.. at depth.. becomes warm enough to activate growth.. to grow out of the ground ... [it dies to the ground here in MI] ... or to start budding ...

patience!!!

I am near Raleigh, and none of mine have sprouted yet either. This time last year I was worried too, but they should be here soon enough.

Mine are just starting to show so I wouldn't worry in 7b.

Soil temp here is 35 and I just noticed mine broke ground yesterday.

Hmmm I am jealous, my Dicentra spectablis is still under about 4 inches of snow!

This is a hardy and rugged shade perennial so your plant is probably fine. The new growth emerges with purply-crimson tips. Here's a clump that I transplanted a few years back in mid April.

Thx, everyone! I figured I was ok, but wanted to be sure. The pic was very helpful. :)
