Helenium Fuego or Salsa

Anyone grow either of them? I've got these ordered from Romence Gardens and wondering about size. The 18-24" sounds great if true. I got helianthus Happy Days last year (not from Romence). Instead of 12 to 18' it grew 6 or 7 feet. I still wonder if I received the correct plant. Anyway it makes a huge difference in where it's planted. Hope someones grown one of them.

You've got your Hels mixed up, Patty. Helenium is quite a different beast from Helianthus. (And let's not get into Helianthemums.)

I'm sorry I confused you, the helianthus was just an example of a plant that was to remain on the short side and it certainly was not short. So now I see there's a shorter Helenium Fuego and Helenium Salsa. They give the height as under 24". This would be much easier to tuck in by the house. My other helenium are in different beds due to their size. Thanks

Helenium and Heliopsis: Going to take the opportunity to say what great plants the helenium cultivars are.

Should add though that, in my experience, heleniums, are higher maintenance than any of my Heliopsis helianthoides. That goes for cultivars from the size of 'Sonnenwunder' to the size of 'Rubinswerg'.

Below: my most recently acquired Helenium: H 'Red Jewel'.

Wow! That is gorgeous! I love the mix of colors as the blooms begin to fade or so I'm assuming. Another plant for "The List."
