| They sort of resemble parsnip seedlings, a long strap-like cotyledon on each side.
Well, lo and behold, something else is emerging, and I just realized, they are probably a couple of hundred seedlings of old fashioned bleeding heart. In all of the years I've gardened and had this plant, it has never had seedlings. Must be the weird weather, either the exceptionally wet 2011 or the exceptionally mild winter of 2012. Anyway, I'm thrilled, if that is what they are, I'll take it, and when big enough, I'll move them to better spots. |

| Congratulations!! I have a "volunteer" bleeding heart that's popped up out of nowhere under my split-rail fence. It's a tidy little clump of pretty foliage at the moment but there's no mistaking what it is. I'll give it another week and then dig it out and plant it where I can enjoy it better. Even though they die back after blooming, they're well worth the effort of planting something in front of them to hide the yellowing stems & foliage. |

| Could the parsnip type seedlings be dill? Mine always reseeds like crazy. Congrats on all the Bleeding hearts. With that many seedlings you might have an interesting one in the mix. Mine has only ever made 1 seedling. |

| why not last years drought.. and heat in MI ... threatening the momma to make her think she was going to die.. as to make viable seed for once ... in livonia .. we actually got seedlings one year .. just a couple.. no memory what the prior winter was like ... ken |

| I wish mine had, it didn't bother to come back this spring. |

| I was very UNCLEAR above == I don't have two different kinds of seedlings. What I meant to say is that the true leaves which are emerging from the parsnip-looking cotyledons are definitely the foliage of old fashioned bleeding heart. These are all growing right under the parent plant. Definitely seedlings from it. |
