Last year, I planted two aster. Someone kept digging it up. Poor guy never bloomed. This year, it came up and someone digs it up and tear it to pieces. I wonder. Why Aster?

I have that problem with different plants, and my guess is the culprit is a squirrel. Probably buried something in that spot where the plant is growing at one time and keeps digging there trying to find whatever they buried.

It does sound like it could be either squirrels or raccoons. Squirrels can be shockingly destructive little pests, more so than I ever would have imagined.

Chickens love to dig freshly planted plants up.

Here I can not use any blood meal or fish emulsion fertilizers as the racoons are sure to dig it up. Squirrels will dig I think mostly out of curiosity. Al
