Miracle Gro - shelf life?

Hey everyone,

We're cleaning out our garage and found two half-full large containers of Miracle Gro (pelleted) plant food and Preen. Does this stuff have a shelf life? They've got to be at least five years old. We brought them from the other house, unpacked and put in a cabinet and forgot about them. :)

Should I use them or toss them? Thanks!

All synthetic chemicals, so much like cockroaches, they will remain viable/active for nearly forever :-) As long as sealed and no moisture involved, they should retain potency fine. And any moisture in the MG will only cause it to separate or liquify a bit.....no big deal.

and if you extend the dilution.. you will be extra safe ...

if perhaps.. somehow... it got stronger.. then the extra dilution would help ..

instead of one mega dose ... use 1/2 strength ... with time in between ...

better safe.. than sorry .. eh???
