gaura 'Dauphin'

Does anyone on this forum know why the tall gaura named 'Dauphin' is nearly impossible to locate and totally impossible for me to obtain here in Texas?

I had this gaura for a couple of years more than five years ago and it didn't last through the winter. If I'd known it would be taken off the market, I'd have started cuttings. It's the most beautiful gaura I've ever seen and no nursery can seem to get any of it for me. I've tried to locate some for years. Can't imagine why the best of the best would not be in commerce.

I'd appreciate any information you may have. Thanks! Lou
