Every year I go through this but I am hoping maybe this time I got it right. I started my mums from seed in the winter of 2011 inside. They came up and after transplanting, really took off. Last fall I had a great display. After blooming, I cut them back to about 5" and mulched them. I see absolutely no sign of them but lots of our stuff here in 5A hasn't poked out of the ground yet. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping to finally have PERENNIAL mums!

Mine are only poking up an inch out of the ground and I am in zone 6b so I would not worry about it.

It's still early where I am due to the colder than normal April temps. Give them a couple more weeks.

Yes, these are seeds from mums grown in this area. I am hoping for the best.

After blooming, I cut them back to about 5" and mulched them. I am sure your "mums" will return but it is my understanding that one does not cut them back in the fall as this now dead growth provides additional protection. (Although I do now read that you did mulch).
