it is best to move perennials when dormant.. so its a plus.. that you see no active growth..

just take a big gob of soil with it.. and it might never know it was moved ...

or divide them while you are at it ...

i never got a BBush to live long enough to move it.. lol ...

as long as the soil is workable.. dormant plants can be moved ...

Yes, Buddleia. Wouldn't you know, I just bought two new ones and planted them in the fall. But I have two others that normally come through the winter fine. It may be it is too early. This crazy winter/late spring is confusing.

it is never too early in your zone...

the ones planted in fall.. should move very easily ... they were dormant then .. or went dormant.. and they probably still are... so what could possibly be the issue ...

personally .. i wouldnt mess with the older ones ..

I think it's fine to move them at this point IF the soil is not too wet. If the soil is still quite wet, you could dig them and hold them in pots until the ground is workable. I wouldn't re-plant in soil that is too wet.

Well, no, never too early as long as the ground is not frozen, which it was a week ago. [g]

And it's going to rain tonightâ¦.good point. I think I'm going to have to hold off on digging and moving them. I'm holding bareroot roses, so I don't feel right to wait any more, I'm just going to pot up the roses instead to hold them until the bed is ready for them.
