EuphorBia - but nonetheless, 'euphoria often collapses' - a great gardening epitaph.

The pinker stems are this season's (I think) and they collapse because it just gets top heavy. There are some very good plant supports on the market which will support the euphorbia discreetly - hard to use when the clump is already huge and floppy.

Mine does it too....but I just ignore it.

I see. Thank you, and correct the plant name, hahaha. I was not sure if it's Euphorbia or Euphoria, but I guess I wrote the name whatever it's closest to, people would get it.

One more question... the older stalks don't seem to produce more growth, although the newer ones keep coming up. What should I do to promote new growth? Do I cut the old ones down to the crown or ignore them?

on autumn joy sedum.. if grown in neutral sand.. in full sun.. with absolutely no water ... they stand up all the time ...

if encouraged.. or should i say.. loved .... in any manner... they flop ...

do you water them.???? feed them???? amend soil.. compost.. etc...

if so.. PERHAPS..you are why they do it ...

if there are buds down near the bottom.. why not cut some branches back.. and see how they react .... experiment ...

I have a few different varieties of Euphorbia that grow similarly to what you've described/shown. I simply wait until the flowers on the old stems have faded and then I cut them out as close to the base as possible. By this time the new stems have developed nicely and they really take off.

At first, I experimented with pruning at differerent times of the year and I found that this technique/timing works best.

As far as flopping, I agree with what's been mentioned earlier and sometimes a bit of support makes a big difference.
