Wayside Gardens - received my order

If you recall, a while back I was debating ordering "Hilda Niblett" azalea from Wayside because of a lot of negative reviews about the vendor. Well, I decided to go ahead and order anyway, since there was a good price on the website, plus I snagged an internet coupon.

I got the bushes this week and -- WOW! They are gorgeous! Full plants for the pot size, healthy, lush green growth, packaged perfectly. One bush is fuller than the other, but even the smaller one is a good size; the larger one is really full for the pot size. No damage to the plants whatsoever. Only possible negative is I don't see any flower buds, but this cultivar is a late bloomer (bloomed in June at my other house, same zone), so not sure if any buds will develop (? new vs. old wood bloomer) or whether I'll have to wait until next year.

Regardless, definitely worth the price paid (actually, I wouldn't blink an eye at paying more for plants this nice...). I tried to order two more yesterday, but they are sold out. Oh well, maybe next year. :0)

Good for you. It does not matter the price when it is something you want and you have to order.

I am lucky to happen to have a nursery close to my home that if I want something they will order the plant/tree/shurb and they are mature plants. I need immediate gratification at this age and do not want small or medium plants. LOL

Glad to hear it. I remember when you were debating whether to order or not. Glad it worked out well. I really enjoy my Hildas and I'm sure you will too!

I ordered from Wayside for the first time this year and was extremely impressed! The packaging is crazy-good and the plants were beautiful.

I had one columnar apple tree that didn't leaf out and so I called customer service. He immediately said he would take care of it and I had a new tree in three days! I didn't have to send the carcass back or anything.

I was very impressed! :) Glad your experience was good as well!

I will never order from them again. They sent me a black dead stick. It was supposed to be a potted plant. You lucked up. Don't risk too much with them unless you have money to spare.
