| i've waited and waited. still no return. i've checked the hgtv program guide over and over. still no sign. has anyone heard any word of its return? i heard that new shows were filmed. most of the garden shows presently on hgtv are terrible and its return to the hgtv line-up would be refreshing. if anyone has any news or recent info on its possible return i would love hear about it. thanks. |

| I agree! Let's all email and write HGTV to rerun those and the Gardener's Journal series. I have some of them on tape, but they were excellent shows and timeless. But let's also ask that they not show them on Saturday and Sunday when we working types are outside in the garden. They need to do the gardening shows after dark. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| I think the "G" in HGTV is very misleading. Without Gardener's Diary there's very little G on the channel and the shows on the air aren't worth watching. I still occasionally watch Paul James but that's it. I miss Gardener's diary! I have some tapes and last year I was recording them on DVR. Wouldn't you know it, before I could those transferred to tape our cable box died and I lost all of the episodes. The only one I'm really sad I lost is the guy from Alabama. He was a tall thin guy with grey hair and an attorney. His garden was absolutely magical. There was a lot of water, and he had a secret garden for his grandchildren that entered through a door in a castle tower. That was a special show. :( |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| I agree with you also, why they call it the HOME and GARDEN channel, is a lie, because it sure isnt GARDEN. All they have on, is the decorating shows, one after the other. BORING!!!!! Good luck getting these garden shows back on, would like to see them again too. Tricia |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

I don't think it's coming back or Gardeners Journal. I have e-mailed them many times and they don't respond anymore. I told them to intermix Rebecca garden with both the programs but I think they both did not renew contracts with the station. If I see another repeat of Rebeccas garden.....well it's killing me...I just turn it off in the morning because it nauseates me. Repeat after repeat after repeat...I'd rather watch something else. At least I had the forsight to tape all of their shows and I can continue to watch them in the winter when nothing else is on. It's a shame those shows were class acts...unlike what that network has become! A Dud! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| i think the better question may be will gardening ever return to hgtv?? there's one half hour show early in the morning (i'm sorry can't think of it right off hand but just a general, middle of the road one) and frankly the only other shows i ever see listed are home improvement and mostly one called "i want that" -- this title will never get me to watch it lol -- but it's just home remodeling, room make-overs, etc ... they really have abandonded gardening nearly completely which leaves very, very little gardening programs at all in our area -- very disappointing channel anymore |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

I wish there were a channel completely devoted to gardening. My husband and I complain often too that HGTV has nothing but decorating shows on. Who has the time to decorate their home when there is the more enjoyable task of decorating their yard? |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| It's so frustrating. Last year I both emailed H"G"TV and sent them a copy of a long GW thread about how much we miss the show. I've been watching "City Gardener" which is on late at night because at least the guy loves plants and doesn't repeat himself endlessly. My only other suggestion is to get your library to find you copies of Karen Strohbeen's video "The Perennial Gardener" and Penelope Hobhouse's video series "The Art and Practice of Gardening." Also Elsa Bakalar's video. I have watched them all a dozen times. Sometimes you can find them on ebay very cheap. Nancy |
Gardener's Diary is back!
| | |
| Gardener's Diary started airing again yesterday on HGTV. It will air Tuesday and Thursday at 7 AM EST. I've emailed HGTV to thank them for bringing it back. Hurrah! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

New shows? Journal & Diary hosts (Erica & Cathy....I can never remember who is on what show) I think either got tired of doing the shows and I believe Erica had a child, which would explain her absence and reluctance to return for a while. HGTV is not watched by me anymore. Rebecca & Paul? Please! There is another cable channel we get called DIY Network or something that has some gardening shows, but most of the fare is remodeling and cars and woodworking and crafts. Yes, I would like to see that Perennial Gardener show again with Karen S. That was good. |

| flanagin, thanks for letting me know about the return of gardener's diary. you really made my day. it is my favorite gardening show. i'm going to record all the episodes so i don't miss any. the gardening shows that have been on hgtv since the hiatus of gardener's diary have been lame. i hate rebecca's garden. the city gardener and gardening by the yard are o.k. it will be a pleasure now to see a show with full grown gardens instead of a shows that are mostly information based or full of transformations. watching gardener's diary gave me so much inspiration and great ideas. it presented a wide variety of garden styles. you are able to see how others put together plant combinations that you might want to do in your own garden. touring a whole garden, seeing it in full, that is what i like to see in gardening shows. not that the others don't serve their purpose, it is just that there haven't been any shows on for so long that have showed established gardens. anyway, i'm really happy to hear of its return. now if they will only bring back gardener's journal. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Awesome news! It would be great if they were new shows too. TIVO here I come... Also, check out your local PBS stations. If you can find a show called Garden Smart in your area, its not bad. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
I wrote to Erica Glassner last fall and they did sell a new season of shows to HGTV but when they choose to show them is a question. HGTV is showing reruns of Gardeners Diary every Tuesday and Thursday at 7am. I am taping them all! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| It looks like Gardener's Diary is not on the schedule for next week - I know last week it was switched to MWF at 7am. Does anyone know if it is coming back on again? I just checked the HGTV werb site and didn't find any info. I've got it set up on Tivo, so if/when it comes back on I will catch it, but I'm just wondering... |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| that's okay by me...They are definitely enjoyable, but my TIvo is running out of room with all the new season shows to record... Have so much to watch and so little time. Need a nice rainy (or snowy GULP!) weekend to catch up. I even turned the recording quality level down so I could fit more. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| HGTV has been a big dissappointment the last few years. Shows like surprise Gardener and Curb appeal have come from warm climates so I can not possibly hope to grow many of the things that are planted on these shows. I like decorating, but lately what they seem to be showing is geared more to remodeling. They are doing a lot of low budget shows, no set required, and no real star for a particular show. The same shows are run over and over. The worst was weekend Warrior-a glorified home video of someone's home improvement project. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Does anyone have tapes or DVDs of the old Gardener's Diary shows they would be willing to copy for me? I have only recorded the ones shown this season. I wish HGTV had the brains to sell DVDs of all the episodes! Nancy |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I can't believe it. They cancelled all of the morning garden shows! I woke up this morning, turned on HGTV and they are now showing interior design shows! I am so mad, just when I was getting used to the new schedule! I even had an extra day of Gardeners Diary last week, I assumed that would be the new schedule. It's going to be a long, boring winter. :( Maybe HGTV stands for house and garbage TV! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| This was discussed on another forum and if you check their November schedule, I believe it will be back. Incredibly stupid to keep changing the schedule in my opinion. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I think that some one is going to have to create a show with a name like "Pimp My Garden" or maybe some kind of competitive reality gardening program where gardeners dis each other and feelings get hurt to keep the genre going on TV. I am very cynical about the tube these days. I miss Erica and her hats. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I just checked my TV, computer TV listings, and HGTV's website and see no sign of Gardener's Diary in November. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| In the early days of HGTV and the Food Channel, the content was geared toward real gardeners and real cooks, both hobbies that I enjoy. Advertising was at a minimum and even those ads seemed appropriate to the shows. Now both are just common commercial networks with maybe 20 minutes of content and 10 minutes of common commercials. I do enjoy Paul James and did whatch Gardener's Diary as both shows gave me good ideas. Now we are inundated with California based curb appeals and house hunters most of which has little relavance especially when you see 1,500 sq. ft. bungalos at a half million. Regarding the Food Channel, I simply can't eat food with 47 grams of fat per serving and God help any one who happens to be diabetic. It's all about personalities and nothing about nutrition. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I had emailed them and got a response which I believe others got too that said it would be on in Nov. and I checked the schedule at that time and it was there, but I see it is no longer. Promises, Promises... |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| hear, hear texasredhead! I agree completely. My husband says all networks now are driven only by greed and if by some weird coincidence their greed and our interests collide, then we'll get what we want. I also miss the "real" home shows like Chris Casson Maddon's show and (althogh it never was on HGTV or the Food Network) House Beautiful had a beautiful and wonderful show that is no longer on. Do you think programming executives are reading our thread? |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I just went through our local TV lineup for the week and there are a total of 5 hours of so-called gardening shows listed, all of them on Saturday and Sunday. When the weather turns nasty and there's not much to do outside, the real gardening shows were a lifesaver. Gardening, reading about gardening, watching gardening TV, talking to fellow gardeners, (and Garden Web, bless their hearts!) are a big part of the things that keep me sane in this crazy and stressful world! I want the TV shows back, especially during the winter! Time for a letter/email writing campaign? Sandy |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I hear ya ! I've emailed HGTV many times (go to Frequently Asked Questions and scroll to the bottom where they provide an email format to contact them). The first several were to request a return of Gardener's Diary, because I was crushed when it went off the air. Most recently I've been requesting that they take the G out of HGTV, because there is pitifully little gardening going on on their channel any more. Texas Carol |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Carol, funny I too emailed them and told them to take the "G" out also. I also sent a copy along of their response to me at the beginning of Oct. saying that Gardeners Diary will return in Nov. Michelle |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I did the same thing. If only we lived in England where there are dozens of TV and radio shows, and you can buy all sorts of great gardening videos. |
TV shows
| | |
| Just for instance, here's the regular shows on BBC TV: Gardening Chelsea Flower Show, Christine's Garden, The Flying Gardener, Gardener of the Year, The Gardener's Year, Garden Invaders, Garden School, Gardeners' World, How to be a Gardener, Gardeners' Question Time, Ground Force, Open Gardens, Royal Gardeners, Small Town Gardens, The Trees That Made Britain, A Year at Kew |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| It looks to me like HGTV is now trying to appeal to men but not men who garden. Their new shows are all macho stuff like Junk Brothers, Stress Test (where they drop bowling balls 20 feet unto counter tops) and the like. They really don't care about gardeners anymore. In the Washington D.C. area on Saturdays channel 32 has P. Allen Smith, Garden Smart and Victory Garden and channel 8 has the Merrifield Gardens show but I still really miss Gardener's Diary. |

| I think the financial dynamics of commercial TV plays against gardening. There are powerful advertising forces to support DIY-type shows, but there really isn't a gardening oriented big box store chain or the like. BBC is state supported, and as such, can and must respond to the prevailing interests of the viewers without concern for profit. Ratings drive the programming on HGTV. If "Gardener's Diary" and the like garnered high enough ratings, Home Depot and Lowes, who have gardening departments, would buy advertising on them. Apparently, they don't. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I think one of the biggest disappointments is we can't even turn to public broadcasting for a quality in-depth gardening show. I can't believe how much fluff is on Victory Garden these days. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
I have about a dozen or so episodes of Gardener's Diary on DVD and would love to get more of the series. Is there anyone that would be willing to make video tape or dvd copies of their tivo episodes? If so please email me. Tim |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| runktrun said "I think one of the biggest disappointments is we can't even turn to public broadcasting for a quality in-depth gardening show. I can't believe how much fluff is on Victory Garden these days." Isn't THAT the truth?! I hadn't seen Victory Garden in some years and was all excited when I saw it appear one random weekday on our local PBS channel. Good grief, between the tour of the organic market and the cooking segment with that tremendously annoying Sissy Someone, I couldn't believe they'd have the nerve to keep the title "Victory Garden" for whatever this show has turned into. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Yea, if they would get rid of the cooking, the tours, and the host, and turn the show over to the guy who actually does the planting, it could be a good show again like it was when Mr. Crockett was there. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I wonder why the advertisers are under the incorrect assumption that the serious gardener is not as interested in purchasing gardening products as the young novice? I would be ashamed to admit how much I spend a year on garden products and lets not even begin to discuss plants........ Thank goodness for People Places and Plants the Victory Garden made a big mistake when they let Rodger Swain go. kt |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| I was so pleased to see this thread posted here. And all this time I thought I was the only one whining to my husband about how all the gardening shows were gone from HGTV! I just loved A Gardener's Diary when it ran. I was always sorry that the half hour was over and it seemed to go so fast. There is very little that I find interesting on HGTV now and we don't watch it very often anymore. Too bad someone doesn't start an "All Gardening" network. I really think it would do very well. If anyone hears anything new about A Gardener's Dairy, I hope they post it here. Linda |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I don't even have People, Places and Plants available on any of my cable channels. I didn't care whether or not they were reruns, I always enjoyed them. Heck, I wouldn't care if they ran Victory Garden from 1982 - it would still provide interesting info. This trend of only running gardening shows that feature "surprise re-design in 48 hours for under $2K" themes is really tiring to me. We don't all have hideous cinderblock-and-rubble backyards that could be improved with a can of electric blue paint, a palm tree, and a string of Christmas lights. Sigh. Remember, not all that many years ago, when HGTV on Friday night consisted of like FIVE HOURS of gardening programs? Perfect inspiration to get you into the garden over the weekend. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| deeje, that is very funny..."hideous cinderblock-and-rubble backyards" ...That's the only kind of yard I've ever seen on HGTV (in the year I've had cable) If I were the designer faced with that I'd go home and cry. Where are these places? If that's California why would anyone want to live there? Give me some space, please. Even my old city house had a better back yard: all 300 square feet of it. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Do any of you get DIY network and does it have any decent gardening shows? |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| gardener sandy, I do -- and they do have a few gardening oshows on in my area, but they don't appeal to me. I also get the BBC channel (we have dish) and I checked their online menu and I couldn't find one gardening show being shown in my area :-( Maybe everyone's holding out and will surprise us with a plethora of gardening shows after the first of the year? |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

ROFL...trying to wipe away tears of laughter...did you ever see the show where they turned the backyard into some type of fairy garden....ROFL...or the one where they had to keep an old bed (matress and all) outside with no overhead cover...ROFL...sorry laughing so hard can't continue to write. kt |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| Has anyone heard anything? Wasn't H"G"TV saying January? |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| HGTV has dropped all its gardening shows. There are a couple of landscape shows left, but that's it. As far as I can tell, they are following the lead of the Food Network, which got rid of all its chefs. HGTV got rid of all its gardeners. Both channels decided how-to shows won't draw a younger audience. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Well they do have gardening by the yard still on Sun. mornings. New season just started and it looks like Paul James might be mellowing a bit in his old age. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I was so angry at HGTV a couple of years ago when they dropped Gardeners Diary and Gardeners Journal. I wrote them an email telling them to change the name of their channel to HTV. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| It's not even good at that anymore. I mean "House". They used to have some good shows about antiques and decorating for normal people. They really seem to be going for a sideshow mentality. I used to watch that channel a lot and have given up on it entirely. I miss what used to be! If advertisers only knew about threads like this.... |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I say long live (and thank goodness for) Paul James and Gardening by the yard! You have to wonder why the nurserymen of this country aren't up in arms -- what about all the advertising dollars they're missing out on? don't we (gardeners) spend hordes and hordes of of money on gardening stuff each year? don't we warrant some shows that keep us interested in our hobby? We need our own "all gardening, all the time" channel . . . |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| Erica Glasener was one of the story hosts on the Victory Garden this past weekend on Oregon Public Broadcasting. SOOOOOOO nice to see her there!!!!!!!!!!! It makes a so so show worth watching now! Laura |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I emailed HGTV, and this is what they said: "Gardener's Diary" is on hiatus through the end of February, but please feel free to contact us closer to that time and we will be glad to check the schedule for updates. StarwoodFarm, was that a repeat of a show from 2004? That's the only thing that showed up when I did a search for "Erica Glasener" on the VG web site. As for HGTV, I'm doing my part by going to their web site and searching on "gardeners diary" as often as I think of it - admittedly, not that often! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Okay, my mistake. Sorry, the show looked new to me. I saw her at the Orchid House, but I didn't see the rest of the segments described below. The show must have been a mish mash of old episodes. Program #2901 *Season Premiere* Premiered Saturday, April 3, 2004 12:30 PM ET on PBS (check local listings) It's time to spice up your garden and heat up your spring with a brand new season of The Victory Garden. Make your garden sizzle by adding a few unusual — but wonderfully edible favorites discovered by host Michael Weishan at the Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead, Florida. Introduce these fabulous flavors into your cooking with guest chef Aaron Sanchez of New York's Paladar restaurant — as he shares Latin-American culture and delicious cooking with Michael. Then, join gardening correspondent Erica Glasener at the Fuqua Orchid House in the Atlanta Botanical Gardens to find out the best way to display these exotic beauties. Giving you the basics you need to begin a tranquil butterfly garden this weekend, gardening correspondent Lee May joins us once again from the Callaway Gardens in Georgia, our award-winning Victory Garden South. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| I just ran across this. I, too, miss Gardener's Diary and Gardener's Journal. Maybe one day we'll actually be able to select the shows we want instead of being told to accept these lump packages through cable/satellite. Why, oh why can't some entreprenuer get out there and make us a good gardening show??! There are so many fabulous gardens in the USA to visit, both public and private. I was able to attend the Chelsea Flower Show in 06 and every night there was an hour show on about it. DH would laugh that no one would believe we raced back to the hotel from wherever so I could see it. I thought it was a thrill to put voices to some of the folks that regularly write in BBC Gardening World magazine. Anyway, can you imagine a show every night focused on the Philadelphia Flower Show, the Seattle Flower Show, etc.? I'd watch them! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Has anybody seen "Smart Gardening" on PBS? It's a good show based in Oregon I think. It's got something for everyone from beginners to advanced gardeners. The best thing is that is in high definition if you have that capability. Seeing beautiful plants and gardens in HD is awesome. I'm with everyone in the dissapointment with HTV and I wouldn't ever watch it anymore if it weren't for my DW who likes the decorating shows(YUCK!!). |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Wow! I just discovered this whole site about how much everyone misses the best garden show ever on t.v., The Gardener's Diary! I have about 6 shows on my Tivo, but I wish I could get a DVD of all the seasons of that show. Is there no way Erica or HGTV could be talked into this? And is it really coming back in February 07 or is that just a way to placate all of us gardening fanatics? I can at least console myself that I have Dan Cleland, Louise Pore and Little & Lewis still to watch on a dreary winter day. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Great idea Vicki Sue! I would willingly buy a DVD of ALL of the Gardener Diary shows. BTW, I email HTV occasionally just to harass them about their lack of true gardening shows. This last time, I posted the link to this thread and told them we call them HTV instead of HGTV. Ha! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I to harass HGTV about both The Gardeners Diary and Gardeners Journal both shows were exceptional. If there was a boxed set out there I would purchase it. To bad the G has not returned to that station. Maybe they should call it HDTV for Decorating! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Erica Glasener has a website, so I emailed her about making a DVD. She said that HTV owns the rights to the show and they are not planning a DVD that she knows of. However, she taped 26 NEW episodes in 2005-2006 that have not aired yet. So, keep your fingers crossed that they will show up on the schedule soon. If anyone notices the new shows, please let us know. I don't want to miss any. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Erica Glasener's website
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Thanx for the URL Monique -- exciting news about the new episodes! I sure hope we get the chance to see them soon. I noticed that her web page says that she's on HGTV at 7 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. That's certainly not true in my area -- boo hoo hoo :-( |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I was hoping for a DVD box set to be available too. I just can't believe that there aren't enough fans out there to warrant airing the show at the very least and I know I'd pay plenty for the shows on DVD if they were available. Frustrating! |

| Let's email HGTV to death! Melwata@HGTV.com Tell 'em you want more gardening shows! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I agree with all here. There are hardly any gardening shows on anymore, and when they are; they are repeats. I guess the gardening "craze" is over; but they should remember that there are serious gardeners left; unlike the yuppies who buy four wheel drives in order to carry 2 cubic ft bags of potting mix to take to their gardens. They may no longer be interested, but plenty of us are. Even the radio stations have only one garden talk show on once a week. Sometimes I cannot get that! I think if we all wrote in as a group, the stations would reconsider and realise that there are plenty of people left who value garden shows. It would be worth a try. I even thought of filming my local Garden Club and seeing if a station would be interested! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| I just went on her website and she's back. This is what it says: A Gardener’s Diary is now on at 7am on Tuesday and Thursday on HGTV. Please email Mary Ellen Iwata at Melwata@HGTV.com and tell her you want to see more of us. Thanks. Erica Glasener, Host (We taped 26 new episodes for 2005-2006 on HGTV on Thursday and Tuesday 7am. Yippee!! |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| bossjim1, I can't believe someone besides my husband and I remember James Crockett. He was like an old friend. We missed him when he passed away. The program has never been the same. Mary |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| Has anyone actually seen Gardener's Diary on HGTV at this new Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 a.m. time slot? My tivo schedule for this time slot still has Designing for the Sexes (which is sooooo yesterday). Have they postponed the show one more time? If so, I may go bald pulling my hair out. What is wrong with these people not wanting to please people who spend billions a year on their hobby/love? |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| Yes, it is reruns. I just looked at Erica's website and it says she hosted Gardener's Diary for twelve years. I've seen maybe a dozen episodes. Just got a Tivo type device last summer. Read about the show on GW last fall. I would be happy to see all twelve years of reruns. We haven't even had HGTV for twelve years, I think only five here. |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?
| | |
| growlove, I remember James Crockett too, I believe I might still have some old VHS tapes of him on Victory Garden, those were the days, VCR's were fairly new and I think we paid around $1000 for ours. Now they give them away :o). Must see If I still have those tapes, the tracking will probably be terrible, but I am desperate for a decent gardening show and he was so informative. A...... |
RE: will gardener's diary ever return to hgtv?

| She's Back!!! At least for the month of April in my area. Some of the shows have already been on before, but there are some that I haven't taped yet and I'm so excited about it. It's on HGTV at 8:00 am EST, so check the programming guide to see when it's on in your area. I think we should also send our letters of thanks to HGTV and maybe they'll keep it on longer. It goes to Apr. 27 and then it says TBA. Anyway, I'm grateful for it now since it's so like winter here, and somehow this helps. I'm loving it!! |

| I'm sending emails to the national advertisers who are running ads on Gardener's Diary, thanking them. This morning's were GMC and Pledge (SC Johnson). Here's a reply from SC Johnson: "Donn, How thoughtful of you to tell us how pleased you are we advertised on Gardener's Diary. We're delighted to receive such wonderful feedback and will happily share your comments with the appropriate people in our company. To thank you for getting in touch with us, we're sending you a complimentary coupon for a PLEDGE® product of your choice. We hope you enjoy using whatever you choose! Regards, Sandra Consumer Relationship Center SC Johnson, A Family Company" It can't hurt. |

| has anyone noticed that there have been a couple of new shows?! Most have been repeats from 2003 and 2004. But a couple of times they've sneaked in 2007 episodes!! |

| When I looked up the info on GD on HGTV it seemed like Mondays had the newest epidoses and I was wondering if that was the season they filmed but HGTV never aired. |

| I thought that a couple of the shows I have seen are new. I'm just glad it's back on the air. I don't mind watching episodes over again, and this time I'm taping them! :) |

| I agree with all these postings. There are no good gardening shows anymore. HGTV is nothing but home makeovers. I want to see more hands on gardening! Let me see these at a decent time time too. Not at the crack of dawn or in the middle of the night. |

| Has anyone noticed that they have gardening shows on at the times that we NEED to be out gardening? Why not have them at 3:00 p.m. when we're in the house resting and sweating to death? Of course, I mean a different time of year than now! Has anyone sent them a link to this particular section? |

| gram999 -- i said that very thing to my husband last year. I think that's odd too. But I've started taping the shows now. As for how to tell the new episodes from the old, it seems that the newer shows don't do a recap of the plants at the end. there was a new one of a guy who'd farmed his land and then turned it in to a garden and then this week (I think) there was a new one too. Can't remember what garden it was. Could have been the one with the water garden. Don't get me wrong. I'm *not* complaining. I'm taping the shows to have something to watch later too. There are still too few gadening shows on TV as a whole and on HGTV specifically. |

| Oh no! HGTV is messing around with Gardeners Diary AGAIN! A new episode was scheduled to be on the air this morning and it was moved to Wednesday, then it is off and on various days. Why can't HGTV just leave it alone on a regular schedule until all episodes have been on the air? I wonder if we all called instead of emailing maybe they would listen? |

| That would be great if they did. Seems 99% of all their shows are regarding redecorating/remodeling of homes. Not many garden shows. Maybe they should take out 'garden' from their name. :) |

| surprise surprise... just noticed that my Tivo was recording something unexpectedly and it was Gardeners Diary. Good thing I never delete Season Passes. |

| I watched the latest episode of Gardeners Diary on mosses. Interesting. I can't grow the stuff, but this gardener did and it was beautiful. I forget where she lived. Oh, well, I tivo the show, and have a few episodes that I just watch when I need a garden boost! I loved the episode with my favorite garden guru, Lauren Springer. She's an amazing gardener. Her garden in Colorado is stunning. Wish she were my next door neighbor!! :-) |

| They've even gone and taken Paul James off of Saturday's (to put on another fix it up show...gee, can't have too many of those I guess).. They have played a couple supposedly new episodes (according to my dvr) on Sunday Mornings. Even DIY isn't playing gardening shows (I think there is one Garden Smart a week on Friday's, actually). ~Chills |

| My recorder has only picked up two recent episodes on HGTV which aired @7am. |

| HGTV is a lousy excuse for a gardening program, period!! |

| I agree, they should take the G out of HGTV. lol |

| The Victory Garden when Roger Swain was the host was my favorite gardening program of all time. They just don't makem like they used to. But ya know if food prices keep going up I bet ya we will see someone air a good vegetable garden show. We can only hope. |

| I wish HGTV would return Gardeners Journal, Gardeners Diary and Paul James to their Saturday schedule. I miss all three, a lot. Paul was on until about a month ago. I'm tired of all those bathroom and house makeover shows. Put the G back in HGTV!!! |

| Gardener's Diary is back! I happened upon it Tuesday or Wednesday morning this week and I think the time was 7:30 in the morning. Hopefully it will be shown at a regular time each week. It was one of the earlier shows so maybe HGTV is rerunning the whole series. Fine with me!!! It was such a pleasure to again watch this intelligent gardening program. No one madly waving hands about accompanied by horrible, senseless music. Just the the facts and the gardens. How refreshing! |

| Erica gave a talk in my area last year. She said we need to email hgtv and request Gardeners Diary. she has new programs for release. I'd watch her over and over. In my opinion they need to change it to htv because they have taken the garden out of hgtv paula |
