edging with perennials

On both sides of my house I have pavestone running the width of the house. East side has hydrangea and the west knock outs.
I would like to run about a 6' edge/border of perennials not to exceed 15' in height inside the pavestone using lawn edging .

i was looking at Missouri evening primrose along one side and possibly Snow lady shasta daisy on the other. Just something to give interest as the knock outs and hydrangea grow and bloom.

I've been looking around at balloon flowers, etc but would appreciate suggestions and deciding if it would be better to start indoors and plant or just seed direct at this point. Thx Jack
