On both sides of my house I have pavestone running the width of the house. East side has hydrangea and the west knock outs. I would like to run about a 6' edge/border of perennials not to exceed 15' in height inside the pavestone using lawn edging . i was looking at Missouri evening primrose along one side and possibly Snow lady shasta daisy on the other. Just something to give interest as the knock outs and hydrangea grow and bloom. I've been looking around at balloon flowers, etc but would appreciate suggestions and deciding if it would be better to start indoors and plant or just seed direct at this point. Thx Jack

daisy would require a lot of pinching back to perform all summer ... which means.. i would look for something variegated.. or a care free all summer bloomer ... my first thought.. on the pic above was ... well.. thats a week or two long show.. whats left the rest of the summer ... but i cant really focus to tell what it is ... ken

6 feet is pretty wide so I would do candytuft, which here, blooms for a good 2 months although before the knockouts and hydrangeas, and tall phlox which again, here, blooms with the second flush of knockouts but they are both extremely low maintenance and last forever (here!)

Missouri Eve primrose will bloom for a lot longer period than Snow Lady, at least for me. It does reseed itself, though.

Maybe the new kitkat nepeta, which is supposed to be a dwarf version. Or Royal Candles Veronica If it is very well draining and somewhat protected you could try lavender. I have friends here who manage to grow it although it is next to a shed.

I was looking at your measurements - do you really mean 6 feet wide and 15 feet tall? Or do you mean inches? The picture looks like lavender to me. Do you want a single plant or would a small number of types repeated do the trick? That would give you a longer period of bloom, although flowers are not the only way of creating interest.

Is the pic shown your house? or Is this a idea you were thinking of using. The pics looks like a walkway. Your description sounds like you have a landscape of.... Is that right?

Delosperma cooperi blooms from April to frost. I edged my front flower beds with it. Cuttings root in a week and bloom while rooting. Best edger I've ever seen!
