You all where right about Anemone robustissima

It is robust!!

The first time I planted this, it croaked. Probably too much sun, drought year, not enough water.

Last year I tried again. One healthy nice plant, different location, better soil, more water etc. etc. By fall I had a very attractive, bushy plant and when it bloomed late summer into fall, I was enchanted. How could one have too many of these? How could something so delicate and beautiful be thuggish in any sense of the word? And then the winter of the POLAR VORTEX came. Surely it would be a goner. Nope.

Things are still emerging around here, but from the looks of it, my one original plant now occupies an area about 3 x 3 feet. At least I know it's hardy around here.
