What a great plant & beautiful pictures - where were you able to get this? It has a similar feel & texture to Rodgersia pinnata but I like the fact that it is a native! even if more southbound.

i LOVE diphylla! and if i would smarten up and move it into more light, it would finally expand after all these years!

I got them years back (I think 6 years ago) at a nursery in SE Michigan - I remember posting on the board about really wanting this plant and David telling me to try this hole-in-the-woods nursery about an hour from me and yep I found them there, worth the trip! I grew them in large pots for a few years then when they got big enough made room for them in this bed. Absolutely love them!

I know Seneca Hills carries them, if you're looking to purchase. Never ordered from there, though, so can't comment on that.

can I interest you in trading for those seeds of diphylleia?
Those seeds have short viability so the only way is to obtain them from someone who has plant and is willing to send them fresh. I could look for something you might be interested, I have grown lots of shade loving plants.

I've been looking for that, just not available here. If you have extra seeds, I would love to trade for some too.

I fell in love with this plant when I saw it at a local nursery, The Flower Factory, in Brooklyn, WI. The plant there was HUGE, but was only for display. I finally located a source to purchase with Barry Glick at Sunshine Farms and Garden. He was a pleasure to deal with!
