Heuchera 'Berry Smoothie'

I was able to find Heuchera "Berry Smoothie" locally after searching many nurseries. I know that this is a newer variety and I know that they are not all "created equal". For those of you who have grown this one, could you please tell me how it preformed?

| Like you said - they are new. I was very impressed with the color last year and bought more this year. I am going to plant it next to gold Hakonechloa - stunning combo IMO. It overwintered just fine in a pot in my zone 6/7. It is a good sign. |

Heuchera 'Berry Smoothie' and Hakonechloa. Yum.
Add a fern or two and a blue hosta, and you have the perfect shade garden. |

| Personal preference? The fern over the hosta...nicer contrast in textures. |

| Fern over hosta is my preference too. :) The reds in the fern are accented nicely by the heuchera. |

| I agree on the fern, too. I love the "Japanese Painted Fern". (Assuming that's what it is as there are similar varieties.) I was thinking about your comment about placing "Berry Smoothie" with the Hakonechola grass. To me they are both stars in the garden and I like to separate the stars so that they have no competition. My clump of H grass early in the year.
It will fill out even further and hit the edge of the bed.

| Kiskin, you have good eyes :o) You are right, it is a Midnight Rose. Fantastic performer for me. Bought more at Lowe's this year. Anyone else with comments on 'Berry Smoothie' ? |
