| My tall sedums are 12"H now and I'm just curious if there is any advantage to cutting them back now, and then again before about 7/4,or should i not bother now? Thanks much!

Well the one advantage I can think of since they are already so tall is the cuttings can be made into new plants now. Which of course means bigger new plants sooner. Otherwise, I don't know if there is an advantage to cutting them now or waiting. Remy

Mindy, from the height my a.joy is now,(about 7 inches) it would be flopping open in the middle if I waited until july. I usually remove the skinny stems and pinch the remaining ones. You know you get multiple small flower heads from pinching. I don't see that they bloom or set color any later, regardless of pinching With all this rain, I don't see how any tall sedum will be standing upright by June 15, or May 30 for that matter. That's my opinion, anyway.

hey mindy you state more than one ... try many variations of pruning.. experimentation is the soul of wit ... whatever that means ... if you could put in some sterile sand... you wouldnt need to prune them at all ... its your wonderful soil that makes them grow to well.. goodly??? ken

now, and I'd say if they to be 12 inches again by mid June or before, again. Even if they are a bit shorter than you like when they set flower & color up, that's better, I think, than splayed open and having to prop up. (WDTS? What does Tracy say?) If this wet weather keeps up, then there will not be any "as usual" At least it is chilly so generally growth has been slowed down a bit
