I planted a small plant at least 10 years ago and it is spreading very slowly. It has small (maybe finger length) purple flowers. I'm just wondering what its name is. It is growing in full sun in the sandy soil of Ocean View Delaware.

Maybe salvia farinacea victoria blue? It is a perennial for me, about a foot tall, and doesn't spread much.

My guess would be one of the veronicas.

Looks like Veronica spicata/spike veronica. I have one growing at the southeast corner of my house in full sun. It's very well-behaved--remains the same size clump each year but comes up and blooms reliably, seems impervious to either wet or drought conditions.

Here is a link that might be useful: Veronica spicata Google image

I agree with gardenweed. It looks like my Veronica spicata.

Thank you all so much! You guys are awesome. In my yard it has been there for over 10 years. It has grown very slowly. I love it. It doesn't require any care other Han the occasional deadheading to make it look nice. It's a trooper.
