Can anyone tell me what this is?

Spring has arrived. My garden has dozens of what appear to be perennials that are aggressively developing new shoots. The root system, or runners, are reddish-purple, about 3/16' to 1/4" in diameter and the shoots are coming up through the soil with green leaves and a slight purple hue. I don't remember seeing so many of these last summer, and I suspect that the they were introduced a few years ago as "fill" specimens to provide some color, but are now sprouting up everywhere. The local horticulturist thought they were Ligularia Punctata, but I could not find anything on-line with that name. There were many specimens of Ligularia, but not "Punctata". I would upload some photos but I can't figure out how to do that. I can e-mail them to anyone who is interested.

No idea what your plant is, but there's another post about lysimachia punctata. I'm wondering if your horticulturalist just mixed up his/her l's.
