What's the poop on this plant? Is it a perennial or a bulb? Does it go dormant after blooming? Fill me in...

Perennial. Does not go summer dormant as far as I know (it did not for me). Cool plant IMO, sometimes considered to be a rock garden or alpine plant, but does fine in a regular garden. Seed-heads are cool. Germination is tricky.

I bought one last year - late spring - and it's blooming right now. I love it. It's welcome color this time of year to bloom along with the Leopard's Bane, tulips, daffs, lilacs, and my small irises.

Seems to be relatively short-lived; at least plants several years old just die. So let the seedlings live.

Mine never set seed, and have lived for 7 years.

They hate being moved, they hate being divided, and will take 2 years or more to recover.

They're lovely!

Okay, then - I'm heading back to the nursery this morning before work to pick up a few (because I know darn well if I wait until this weekend they will be gone...). Thanks for the input!
