Last year a friend gave me some plants while cleaning out his garden. I have something starting to bud that I was wondering if anyone knew what it might be. It is kind of a trailing root with buds of reddish leaves starting on it. Our weather has been cold & rainy so everything is late. It also smells like licorice when you rub it. Anyone know what this is???? I want to put it in the correct spot. Thanks for your help.

A picture may help. I set up a photobucket account. You upload your picture there and then copy and paste the HTML code (the third one underneath the picture) to your message. T.J.

I will take a pic once it grows a bit....it is very close to the ground and dark in color so probably won't show up very well. I am not great with pictures or the computer but I will give it a hook. Thanks for responding.

If it is monarda, be careful about where you plant, it is in the mint family and can be invasive unless you plant it in the pot, in the ground.
