Stella has been around for several years now, but I'm not familiar with the several later introductions. Can you recommend any of the newer choices?

| I have a beautiful peach everbloomer called Mini Pearl that I just love. There is also Brown Eyed Stella and many more. Check out the link below |
Here is a link that might be useful: reblooming day lilies

Thanks dowlinggram -- I had no idea that there are SO MANY reblooming daylilies. Mini Pearl sounds delightful and I will search the garden centres for one or three. Thanks for the link; I could spend a few hours there! Jan |

| I have Happy Returns and we really love it. The yellow is pure sunshine without a hint of orange in it. |

| Reblooming in zone 5 or colder can be hit or miss. My brother has a 'Happy Returns' and it will rebloom some years. I have a 'Black-eyed Stella' (or what Tony Avent once said was what happened to Stella when she walked into the D'oro) and it has never rebloomed for me in the 15 or so years I've had it. Still a nice plant though. tj |

Stella has been generously used by landscapers of commercial properties in this area, where it is typically paired with decorative grasses. In such large plantings there are always a few blooms after the initial bloom period ends, but in my garden with just three of them I can't be assured of continuing bloom. I think I'll try 'Happy Returns' -- I like the clear yellow colour. Jan |

| I like Happy better than Stella. The clear lemon yellow is much prettier and easier to landscape with. Rebloom is hit or miss in the PNW due to clouds and cool temps. Stella, Happy, Penny's Worth, Indian Giver are the few that have rebloomed for me. (I have about thirty different daylilies) In sunnier climates many more rebloom if kept well watered. I have these on that rebloomer list but none have rebloomed for me. Always Afternoon, Canadian Border Patrol, Catherine Neal, Janice Brown, Moonlit Masquerade, Night Beacon, Pandora's Box, Strawberry Candy, Stella Surpreme, Trahlyta. They all have bigger prettier flowers than Stella and Happy. Indian Giver is my favorite it is true purple for me, many others are really red/burgundy/maroon. |

| I have a Ruby Stella,(deep red) and Stella Supreme(clear yemon yellow). These were introduced in 2003. I bought them at Lowes. They had a Jackson and Perkins (known for roses) identifying tag. The folks at the Daylily forum pooh poohed them, something about them being only available at Lowes, not good stock/breeding, blah, blah, blah. They were both classified as everblooming. Supreme may give a very sporadic bloom later in the season after it's initial bloom in late June, but Ruby is a blooming machine in comparison. Bloom begins later in July and continues till frost with a steady display of several flowers opening each day. The flowers are smaller than most daylilies and are deep red/maroon with a yellow throat. Not a show stopper, but a reliable show for a very long time. |

| I've had pretty good luck with reblooming or longer blooming daylilies in zone 5, though mine are getting direct full sun. The longest bloomer in my garden (beating out Stella d'oro) is South Seas. That one starts around Memorial Day and keeps blooming till September. It's bigger, but the blooms are a pretty salmon pink with orange tones and ruffled edges. Very tropical looking. That plant is incredibly vigorous - by year two it was huge. I second the appreciation for Indian Giver - very unique looking with a deep purple color. Doesn't rebloom for me yet though (maybe this year). You'd be surprised how many long blooming daylilies there are. The garden centers often only carry the most popular 8-10 offerings. |

| gazania, I wonder if Purple oDora and Ruby are the same plant. It is a blooming machine in my garden. It blooms the same time as Stella but it blooms most of the summer and starts back up late Sept and goes until frost. Does it look like this?
