| I have an area that I am trying to fill. I have a dogwood shrub at the back, a peony on the side and daffs. and grape hyacinth bulbs in front. The spot gets enough sun for all these to bloom but I must admit it gets a lot of shade after 3pm also when it rains there is standing water for a day or so after the rain stops. I would like a plant there that will flower in the summer or fall or both.
Do you think some tall phlox(David and Orange Perfection) or New England Asters would mind that spot? I have some of both I could split. |

| How about Joe Pye Weed (Eupatorium) Turtlehead (Chelone glabra), swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) Gayfeather (Liatris spicata) Ironweed (Vernonia novaboracensis) along with the garden phlox. I'm not sure about the NE aster, I know they like moist soil but not sure if they would handle standing water, maybe someone else will have experience with that. |

| Japanese iris (iris ensata) also like wet feet. The flowers are stunning, they bloom about a month later than Dutch, bearded or Siberian iris and the blooms last a long time. |
