 o
brunnera Jack Frost not blooming

I know there have been a lot of complaints about B. Jack Frost in these forums, but I've been lucky and mine have done well for several years. Until now.

Every year they get tons of blooms, except this year. I have a patch of about 5 Jacks and there are only about 3 blooms total. I am so disappointed. Spring just doesn't seem the same when they are not blooming.

I divided them 2 or 3 years ago, so it shouldn't be that. The soil is good.

Whats my questions? I'm not sure... just sad...and venting... plants are not perfect... (oh-oh... I'm using lotsa dots.... do I sound like Ken? ...)

Now that I think of it, I have a couple more in another location and they are not blooming either. weird...

Cold and wet spring?
Lots of my perennials failed to bloom this year. Even very reliable bloomers. I am very disappointed too. Brunnera JF not among them though, bloomed as usually.

And you did sound like Ken in that paragraph :o)

Are they just behind their normal schedule? We had a very cold and wet spring in the PNW and most of my plants are behind schedule. All of my Brunneras are blooming now and normally, I think they do it in March....

yes, the weather is a bit colder and wetter than normal, but not that much (until this week). And it is blooming a tiny bit. I also have another brunnera (Spring Yellow) blooming wonderfully. So I don't think its the weather, but ya never know.

My JF is in full bloom right now in zone 4.

I know how you feel. I have 4 or 5 and usually they misbehave, but this year, I have been stunned by their multitude of gorgeous flowers. I guess Mother Nature just decided it's my turn.
