Echinacea 'Merlot'

This plant is a real beauty. I have had it for about 4 years now. The one shown is a division I took last year from the original plant. It looks better than the parent now. I love it when that happens. If you want an Echinacea with dark stems and large flowers, then this is a good one.

That's gorgeous. If the picture I'm seeing is true to color, I want that plant. Much nicer than the common purple coneflower I have. :)

It's very true to color. I didn't even crop the photo or anything. It is a dependable plant too.

That is very pretty, I really like it! I'm loving the new varieties of coneflowers. I don't have many. I have been fortunate with the Big Sky series apparently. I have I think they were called Harvest Moon & Sundown. Both have come back several years now, & Sundown has produced lots of seedlings that look like its parent. I got Hot Papaya a couple of years ago at the end of season clearance. It was late to come back last year & didn't bloom for some reason. It is blooming now & simply glows, I'm really impressed with it. I know you grow lots of echinacea & test the seeds. Do you know if this one grows true to seed? I have it 50' or so from my other echinaceas, would love to grow some more plants from it.

Gorgeous!
I'll have to search for this one and check out hardiness.
Thanks for the great photo!

Hot Papaya won't come true from seeds. It would be fun to grow some and see what it makes though.

Very pretty pic Ech! And a pretty Echinacea. What is that red spikey plant in the background?

That is Agastache hybrida 'Acapulco Trio'. I got them at Lowes last year for a dollar on the clearance rack. There are 3 colors together...orange, red, and a light purple color. They are one of my favorites. They root from cuttings very easily.
