| Thank you for your patience ~ I posted this in *Sedum troubles* thread & it was suggested to start another discussion ~
Good Morning ~ My sedum troubles are of a diff sort ~ have 3 of the rockery types, all yellow bloomers but couldn't really name them ~ even went to Sedum Scty index.
My ?? ~ Is there nothing to discourage tricky sedums from showing up at all? Will these little guys always be there & plucking the only recourse? I have sedums in other bed settings & can control there in those settings! Ideas please? ~ TIA |

| most seeds need sun to sprout.. so many peeps add a mulch to bury unwanted seeds from sprouting ... otherwise .. its monotonous work ... pull them all out.. and much properly. and hope that solves the problem ... ken |

| Thanks Ken ~ I didn't think they seeded I thought that they just root prolifically on tiny pieces one may inadvertently drop while plucking bunches. I've plucked & discarded another HD 5gal bucket today as if I had nothing better to do!!! The 3 days of cold & rain got them all happy & set up camps ~ like I said turn around & there they are. Pulling out from the ground in not the problem it's the plucking those, woven between the young Climbing Hydrangea's greens & twines w/ equally young rootlets trying to crawl on those retaining-wall mortar pieces! Ugh!!! |

| I wouldn't bother with trying to remove it. If it's what I think it is (S. sarmentosa?) it's small and very shallow rooted. It isn't going to be much competition for a 'real' plant like climbing hydrangea. |
|
| I'm a bit puzzled. Are you saying that the Sedums are affecting your climbing hydrangea? I can't quite see your situation. The Hydrangea is 5 years old now and should be several feet feet high. A few Sedums shouldn't worry it. How about a picture? |

| Thank you mad for finally ID'ing the sedum ~ googled & I think you're on target!!! Flora ~ this climbing Hydrangea known for her very slow start after planting, is now just really taking off to my delight. Actually in 2006 when I set her in place w/ great tutorial from another very successful owner of one, we newbies, were encouraged to pick up a very thick book while waiting ~ knowing what I know now I suggest several thick books!!! Please bear w/ me w/ this A Petiolaris album ~ the young twines are not very sturdy & after waiting so long ~ didn't want to disturb her goal at covering up the ugly but functional wall. |

| BTW ~ The pix taken today was after plucking 5 gals of the likely, S sarmentozas, yesterday. Probably just forget about plucking those woven in the mass of H anomala greens huh? |
