| I have two or three delphiniums growing in my coldframe from a sowing last spring. I'm just getting around to planting them out in the garden, but they've grown rather leggy. I was wondering if I can plant them the way I do tomatoes, with the stem deep beneath the soil, or even down a few inches from where they're growing now--as a way to counteract the legginess. I suspect that's not a good idea, since unlike tomatoes they're not going to put out roots from the buried portion. But does anyone have counsel for me on this? Thanks. Gary |

| Plant them as they stand; don't bury the crowns. |
