I had a beautiful clump of Dianthus gratianopolitanus 'Firestar' which I planted four years ago, and which was doing great last year. This year it died without even a little cough. I found its roots deader than a doornail in March. Is it short-lived, or did some disease, pest, etc. do it in? Thanks!

Did you have a damp winter? Pinks like very sharp drainage and winter wet is a big enemy.

Hmm, no, it was not particularly damp, but it was very, very warm.
