Do you ever use viburnum as cut flowers? When to pick them?

I always struggle with when to cut shrubs for cut flowers. I cut peonies early, at the bud stage, and let them flower and open indoors. It prolongs their life in the vase and I enjoy watching them open.

I struggle with knowing when to cut flowering shrubs for cut flowers. Things like this viburnum. Or my lilac bushes. Or my hydrangea.

Do you cut them green (like this) and let them develop inside? Or do you pick them closer to their peak? Sometimes I feel like it's easy to miss the peak.

Thoughts?

I cut lilacs about when they show color and are within two days of opening. I want to enjoy the fragrance as soon as the first blossom opens. I don't have experience with viburnum. Though, I have now planted three of them, so may cut them in the future. I'll be interested what others say.

looks like you have V. macrocephalum Many people love the lime green new blossoms in arrangements better than when fully open and white. remove leaves and crush stems.
