| If you are a member of their 'garden club' or whatever they call it (it is like Mahoney's set up) Weston is offering two great deals: a $65 azalea (ok, it is pink...but hardy...and proven) for $15 and a $67 enkianthus for $25. (don't know if it is the red/pink flowered one. That's the only one I like)
Also, two good workshops this weekend, unfortunately for me in Hopkinton, and more in June. All you gotta do to be a member is go to their physical location and sign up. I'll be in Chelmsford tomorrow bright and early!Even without the bargains i'm overdue to look at Mahoney's competition. Competition is good, in this case. mt |

| The enkianthus are very, very nice for $25. Very full and well shaped. Mostly white flowered, but I found two deep pinks. There are no named red ones. The azaleas are really flaming pink. Not a color I needed. Last week's special, the viburnum burkwoodii, were very large, full easily 5.5 feet tall. I cajoled t the salesperson to let me have one at sale price since they were still out in the 'special' bed. I think there will be more specials at the nurseries; the blooms on many azaleas and early rhodies are rained out and sodden. Maybe they'll pass on the unbeautiful but healthy plants to us in the know at a reduction! Marie |
