 o
helenium autumnale less bushier than last year

I installed a helenium autumnale last year, it did quite well and died back in the fall. This year when it returned, it's not as bushy as last year. In fact, it looks a bit smaller. In contrast, the bee balm planted next to it has spread aggressively and the new england aster is much bigger.

Is there any issue or should I not worry about it and wait?

Paul

If it really died back in the fall(no visible rosettes), then you should be ecstatic that it came back at all. They usually do not.

When I say died back, I mean when the plant normally go dormant in the fall. I thought these guys were suppose to be fairly reliable as a perennial as long as it gets enough water.

To make it bushier, simply pinch the tips. It will respond by getting bushier.
