they are a true biennial ...

seed and grow the first year.. maybe some will bloom ...

over winter.. and bloom to death the second year.. and then die ...

you just need to get the cycle going.. as you have.. since the ones that bloomed this spring.. will seed.. and add the second off-year generation

its all so simple.. when you commit ten billion minor random bits of knowledge to your head... and then 2 weeks after you get there.. you start forgetting them all .. lol

docmom, can you tell us which plant you have by its botanical name? Or give us a picture of it? As ken says, 'Forget Me Not' is generally used for Myosotis sylvatica cultivars which are biennial or short lived perennials.

I was given a division by a friend of my sister. All I know is that it is not the crazily reseeding annual that I've had in the past. I'm assuming it is Myosotis sylvatica. Here is a picture of the leaves and the tail end of the one bloom branch.

I planted seeds last fall. They came up this spring and bloomed. I almost ripped em from the ground before they bloomed because they looked like weeds. Thankfully, I saved the seed packet.

I'm betting you have the annual form that flowers and drops seeds every year, so you get new plants every spring. That type can be very enthusiastic and spread overwhelmingly. You might consider dead heading your plants, except for a few, if you want to save seeds to plant for next year in a location you wish them to occupy.

Martha, those look like the biennial FMN. I have some that did not bloom either because they were reseeds from last year. They will bloom like mad next spring!

Docmom, those look just like the usual biennial Forget-Me-Nots to me, not a special variety. They seem quite small plants and I'm pretty confident they'll bloom next spring.
