Anyone know anything about Anemones? I planted 3 of them this spring. They were looking good & then slowly died off & disappeared. the 3rd one is about gone. what i'm wondering is whether they are dead & gone or are like a bleeding heart & vanish only to reappear next next year.

Are you talking about the bulb, anemone blanda? If so, they do disappear before summer. Mine have been long gone for the season already. They will be back come spring.

Yes - we need to know which Anemones you are talking about. Some are tough perennials, some are ephemerals. And they will all behave differently.

i bought them at costco. the tag says perennial japanese anemone-'harmony scarlet' the 3rd one is now gone as well. i know some plants do whither early & reappear the following year. i'm checking since the plants are warranted & if they are indeed dead i'll get replacements. does the e-mail notification feature ever work???

This is what I found on Google. These are the anemone that grow from corms, not the Japanese anemone perennial that bloom in the fall. In the fall one can often find corms to plant for next spring's bloom. They die back after blooming and return next spring. The site says mild climates but I have had anemone planted from corms return each spring for many, many years. I bought a violet one this spring and planted it in the ground after it bloomed.
Here is a link that might be useful: Harmony Scarlet
