What happened to my Lobelia?

I bought a Lobelia at HD last fall with the wrong tag, it said Cardinal Queen Victoria but it had plumes of lavender blue lobelia flowers. I overwintered the potted plant in a cold frame then planted this spring. The leaves look the same, I think, but the flowers are miniature white daisies. What happened to the lavender blue lobelia blooms? I've seen the mini daisy blooms in someone else's yard, a completely different leaf. I'm so confused. The pot hijacked?

Lobelia cardinalis 'Queen Victoria' is a cultivar of cardinal flower with purple foliage. It has red flowers, not blue. From what I hear, it's not that hardy and won't over winter in cold zones.

It sounds like your plant was mismarked in the first place, and that you originally had some cultivar of Lobelia siphilitica (Great blue lobelia). The plant you have now doesn't look like either.
