| I have lots of the S. ovate sep. braceata or heart leaf skullcap. It like it to be part shade/shade. It is not waterers in my yard since I do not do much of that. It grows from stolens slowly filling in an area. I use it as a group cover under my Salvia regal. It grows in Calcarious alkaline soil here, a limestone ruble with leaf much under an small Iive oak in Central Texas.. In the spring it appears and has some very nice blue flowers , and then it slowly disappears in a couple of months in the heat. On very dry winters and springs it does not bloom but returns again faithfully. It is a spreader but not a wicked spreader. I would make sure that there is good drainage in the soil if you get a lot of summer rain.. They mention rot during the summer |

| I removed my scutellaria after several years as it self seeded too much. Think it would work well as a ground cover. |

| I don't have problem with the seeding because we are so dry. I do use it as a ground cover that disappears and then I have leaf mulch and salvia romeriana. They duke it out. |
