Does one Plant lead to Another

You know how it is if you buy a new dress you need the shoes and purse to bring the outfit all together. lol

Well it is the same with my flower garden. But I am going to put this in a pot. I have been working on putting hardy plants in pots so I do not have to drag a bunch of tropicals and buy new annuals every year. I am getting to old and in too much pain to keep lugging these big pots in every year.

After I get them in the pot I will look around and see if it needs more. It might need a necklace and maybe some earrings.

So here goes. I welcome any suggestions of additional plants.

It started when I picked up a Carpet rose. Hardy 5-10

With those 70's colors, I think one of those cool metal chain-link belts would go nicely. Retro, man!

Sorry, I'm distracted by the prickly pear cactus in the ground. Is it perennial there? Yellow flowers?

Oooh I like Sienna Sunset. It might look pretty with a bright blue scarf. : )
I've been watching for a good deal on some new containers. The big ones are expensive. I almost bought one at Biglots last week but I really wanted a second one to match it and they didn't have it. The ones that look like concrete but are made out of a foam material are really nice to keep roots cool and are easier to move around.

Yes, definitely, I often end up creating little theme vignettes around a new plant I've purchased, and of course this requires additional purchases to flesh out the design.

I had no idea those cactus could live up there, never saw any when I lived in Columbus. The ones with the yellow flowers are everywhere down here though, and I had no idea the flowers came in diff colors. Thanks!

I was shocked too purple. I learned they were hardy in my zone from people at GW about 10 years ago. They look dead in the winter. They lay down flat as soon as it warms up in the Spring they sit up plump up and look beautiful. It is amazing. I think they are hardy to zone 4 or 5.
