This plant is a volunteer that has come up in my flower garden the last three years. There is only one. It is about 24" tall, has leaves that resemble a geranium (to me)and the blooms are close to the stalk and stems. Thank you!

Thanks for helping me out. Mine has not reseeded and I would like for it to. (I think) Last year I "helped" my cleomes and now I have thousands.

It can be Malva sylvestris or another malva.

Looks like a Malva to me - they look like tiny hollyhocks (they're a close relation).

argh, the most hateful weed on my allotment - a taproot which goes to australia (three weeks after germinating) and seeds everywhere. And yet, I love the mallow flower shape - I am a sucker for sphaeralcea, sidalcea, althea, anisondontea....and on and on but dreadful M.sylvestris (and yours might (I hope) be a better behaved mallow but......

From the bloom color it looks like it could be Mystic merlin M.sylvestris. Depending on if you have a warm or cold winter in zone 7, it can be a short lived perennial or a freely reseeding annual.

Thanks for all the help. It is Mystic Merlin. It seems some people have trouble with it reseeding too much and others really like it. I think I will just see what happens naturally. Thanks again for all the help.
