 o
Yarrow and Catmint

I saw a yard that had catmint and yarrow. It was very pretty and I would love to get some seeds for this particular yarrow. It was not the tall yarrow but a shorter kind about a foot or two tall. DO you know what this yarrow is called as I would love to get seeds for it. Thanks

What colour was it?

It was a soft yellow. It was very pretty with the catmint. Both in bloom now.

Probably Moonbeam

The 'Moonbeam' yarrow is my favorite because it is well-behaved. I love the gray foliage. It mounds nicely and never flops.

'Moonbeam' Achillea/yarrow apparently doesn't produce viable seeds. I checked Swallowtail Garden Seeds' website and 'Moonbeam' isn't featured which suggests seeds produced by that cultivar (if any) will not germinate or, if they did, produce identical plants. The parent plant would have to be vegetatively propagated from original plants of that cultivar.

Garden weed, You are so right! I never made that connection but I went to that site to purchase the seeds last night and noticed it wasn't listed. I wondered why. So I will now need to find a plant to purchase and then I can divide it .

I've had the plant for many years and it doesn't make seed that comes true. It is very easily divided though. In fact toward the end of the season, you can just pull up a leaf and it will have roots at the bottom.

I got a dwarf yarrow this year called King Edward. As of a few months in the ground, it's probably a foot in diameter and just a few inches high. The flowers in the spring were creamy yellow.

Just a quick note that instead of 'Moonbeam', I believe you mean 'Moonshine'. There is yarrow 'Moonshine' and coreopsis 'Moonbeam'.

Yarrow 'Sunny Seduction' is a nice, sturdy light yellow colored one, mine gets to be 1.5-2 feet tall. I don't know anything about trying to grow it from seed.
