Hibiscus moscheutos - cultivar question

Anyone have any experience with both the Disco Belle series and the Luna series? Did you find Disco Belle was a more vigorous cultivar?

Reason I'm asking is yesterday I had to transplant a few Luna hibiscus, and when I dug them up, the roots on them were puny. I remember years ago when I moved a Disco Belle the root system was so massive it took both me and DH to dig it up.

I'll see how the Luna perform this year. They were fine last year, no complaints, but I'm just really surprised at the root systems, not sure if they're on the decline.

RE: Hibiscus moscheutos - cultivar question

My red Luna was a nice-size division given to me by a neighbor four years ago and it had minimal roots. It has been very slow growing...no comparison to the Disco Belle in the same bed, with same growing conditions. I don't think that answers your question but you might try browsing around the website linked below for more in-depth information.
