What the flip did I bring home with me??

What are these creatures on my Datura and how do I get rid of them? I'm thinking striped cucumber beetle but not 100% sure.

Noticed blobs of what looked like dark brown eggs or teeny-tiny slugs on the undersides of leaves a few weeks ago, but dummy me neglected to take care of it at that time and then forgot about it. Now I notice these beasts on the Datura, with chewed up leaves and holes in the flower buds.

Wondering if I should just put a plastic trash bag over the plant, tie it up then dig up the plant so as to transplant the beasts to the trash or whether I should try to eradicate. My concern is if they are cuke beetles, I don't want them to migrate over to my vegetable patch...

Not sure what they are, but I have them in my veggie patch. They like my potatoes, but are smaller and more elongated than CO potato beetles. Their eggs are smaller and a bit more yellow than CPB also. I don't grow cukes, so I don't know if they are cuke beetles, though they look like the photos I've seen of cuke beetles. Yours are breeding, so look for eggs.

You could just smush 'em.

I go out early morning and knock them into a container of soapy water or smoosh them. They are much slower and easier to get when the temps are cool.

I got rid of the plant and hopefully most of the beetles yesterday. I put a drawstring trash bag over the top, tied it closed around the bottom of the stem, then dug it up and stuck all that along with the soil in the pot (in case any eggs) in another trash bag and double-knotted - don't want any escapees LOL! I was worried about an infestation because I think those were eggs (or maybe tiny larvae) I saw, and there were *a lot* of them. I'd rather lose the one plant then have an outbreak. Hopefully that solved the problem...
