| Hello, everyone! I must admit that my approach to gardening is possibly mostly erratic. I take more joy in the knowing, tending, learning aspects and don't seem to have much going for me in the design area. That being said, my plants are much loved and very much appreciated. It would seem that those that fair the best have come from others rather than nurseries. I have a Moses in a Cradle that belonged to the 91 year old grandmother of an ex-boyfriend. She gave it to us in 2001 and I in turn gave some to my grandmother who gave it back to me...and so on. The boyfriend left, the grandmother passed and I somehow insist on keeping this plant going. My best roses are ones my mom has dug for me that came from offsets from my grandmothers. I have a yellow iris that my grandfather dug off the side of a country road for my grandmother before he passed 30 years ago.
So...all that being said. I would love to increase my variety of perennials. Unfortunately, my perennials are just taking off and not entirely ready for digging. The things I do have in small pots are liriope and tiger lilly. So, I was wondering if I could work out any trades or SASE deals. Maybe my houseplant cuttings for your perennials? I just cut a tremendous amount of cuttings from my 4 different tradescantias and put them in water to root. I also have a monsterous jade that came with some plant stands and could use an adjustment. I could send leaves for starts. I have a white blooming orchid cactus (name unknown) with a lot of new growth as well. I do have a limited amount of rosary vine and wax ivy that can be pruned as well. The perennials I already have are (and though I bought several from the nursery, most are shared with me by my mom): Black-eyed susan
I would love anything else that you have to spare. Irises, btw, are my favorite..my grandmother had a row of them on the edge of her yard in all different colors. Let me know if you are up for a trade! Thanks! April |

| This post would probably be better on the Plant Exchange Forum. Just a suggestion. Kevin |

| April, your best bet would be an organized plant swap. I know over on the New England forum, groups of us plan them once or twice a year, according to region. I took a quick look at the list of forums here and don't see an Indiana one, and I'm not really sure where to refer you to on GW. Sorry! But try joining your local freecycle. Then you can post on there both looking for other plants and offering yours, and you can arrange individual swaps. Also, contact any local garden clubs or maybe check at the local garden center to see if they can refer you to a group. Kevin's suggestion of the Plant Exchange Forum is a good one too. You may be able to find others near you to swap with. Sounds like you have a lovely garden full of great memories and associations. How nice! Dee |
