I have to admit that lantana are not my favorite, but the positive aspects are winning me over. Profuse blooming, takes the heat , no fuss. . . Plus my daughter loves them and says they smell like candy (?!), so she always has one as her plant. I was on a weekend trip to NC and saw on the way home a little place selling lantana "trees." Kind of like topiaries, with "trunks" a little over 3 feet tall. I liked the novelty of them, but not for their 30 dollar price tag. But considering how fast lantana grow, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to make one of my own. Has anyone tried this? Any suggestions? Thanks!

In the trade they are referred to as standards. It isn't difficult so much as time consuming--the time, extra training of the plant growth, and stake are what you are paying for with the price bump. But they aren't difficult to do yourself. I provided a link that explains how to form them, because I'm not getting premium $ to write it out myself. ;)
Here is a link that might be useful: Standard Training

Thank you! I think I'll try it!
