| Anyone have any experience growing butterfly bushes in containers? I bought another Peacock yesterday, I needed something to full a large piece of pottery I have. I potted it up into a larger plastic pot, and placed that in the pottery so I can easily remove the liner and store the bush over the winter in the garage.
Just wondering if anyone has encountered any issues with this particular plant in containers. I've overwintered plenty of stuff before in containers with much success, so I'm not too worried about that - it's more summer care I'm asking about and overall how well does Buddlei do in containers. Appreciate any input! |

| most of mine.. rotted in winter.. when there was no consistent snow cover [meaning winter freeze/thaw cycles] .. i THINK.. they are very unhappy in soggy soil ... especially if cold .. they are borderline hardy in MI .... and rather short lived, if they do make it over winter ... dealing with a potted one.. just blows my mind.. one thing i would insure.. the media dries out in fall ... not bone dry .. but not soggy.. and i would NOT rely on a heavy peat media .... to insure such ... but i know that you stop you.. lol .. you are going to prove me wrong.. if its the last thing that plant does.. lol ... ken |
