I just got a new bunch and desperately want them to survive, but every time I get them and transplant, the leaves slowly turn brown and I'm left with dry corms. They're full sun plants, yes? Do these just need frequent watering?
Follow-Up Postings:

Even full sun plants need copious watering until they are established.

Grow in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist soils in full sun. ===>>>> it can be very problematic to have moist well drained soil .. do you ... the link also states that they are like glads.... and once the bloom is spent.. they die to the ground.. and can be lifted for winter storage ... with the total lack of any background info .. i am guessing you are buying flowering corms in flower.. which immediately after bloom are going dormant [probably because they were forced early for sale in pots] ... and i have had little luck in getting pot grown bulbs/corms.. to transfer to the general garden ... especially now.. in sand .... perhaps you ought to try .. as the link says: Plant corms in spring 2-3" deep and 6-8" apart. .. to see if you might have better luck working in the ground.. rather than with pots ... ken

I thought mine were dead but they came back the following year. They did not bloom for two years after planting. They seem to need a long time to establish before they bloom. I was growing mine in part shade moist soil.

I've struggled with mine in full sun. My soil is probably not loose and moist enough in the heat of high summer. This week I moved a big clump to a more temperate section of the garden under some old tall rugosa roses. It's also a lower section of the garden where the soil stays wetter in the summer, but still drains in the winter. That said, I have a friend who has huge clumps of crocosima growing with wild abandon in her garden. She doesn't pamper them and has them in average soil with medium sun. I've asked her about them, and she doesn't do a thing, just ignores them and they thrive.
