This is suppose to be a Dwarf "Burning Bush"...its taking over a good part of my small yard garden. Of course come October that is when its fantastic ...completely red...but I did not expect to take up much space as it has. if this suppose to be a dwarf, what would a normal size grow too? It about 10' feet high and wide.

I know nothing about that shrub, but you have to be careful with these names they give plants. Dwarf doesn't mean tiny, it simply means smaller than the original. If a particular tree for example normally grows 50 feet tall and someone comes out with a variety of the same three that only grows 20 feet tall - that's a dwarf (by comparison).

Burning Bushes are on the invasive list in many states. I linked to photos of the damage they are doing. They produce berries that the birds eat and deposit in woodlands a distance away from the original property they were on.

Blueberry bushes are a nice substitute for that red color in the fall.

Here is a link that might be useful: Google Images of burning bushes invading woodlands

use the PB HTML code.. on preview.. if you see the pic... we will see it ...

get rid of it ... it doesnt fit your space..

and is invasive in many places...

what exactly is the upside.. other than red in fall ... there are many other.. better behaved plants that can do that for you ...

cut it to the ground.. apply stump killer.. plant some new things a few feet away ...

boothbay.....if you want to keep your burning bush and control its size, cut it back drastically......burning bushes regenerate very well from old wood, so you can cut it back to "stubs" and it will resprout .....once you reduce it to the size you want, just clip it hard every season from now on....no need to get rid of it.......

That is exactly what I did the year before ...I had it pruned down to about 2-3 feet and this is the result. No, I will wait for this Fall gorgeous color and then get rid of it..BTW, someone here mentioned berries..mine has never shown berries and its 20 years old.
