Container catmint

I have a 'Sweet Dreams' Nepata that I want to plant in the
dry top of a pond fountain. It is a large container and I want the catmint to return every year. Should I use top soil
or potting soil?

RE: Container catmint

Zone 5? You're going to have problems with getting that plant through the winter in a pot unless you can remove the pot and insulate it somehow to prevent the freeze/thaw cycle. Heck, mint won't survive a winter in a pot for me.
