Is it too late..

to move a Coneflower? I just realized things are getting a little compact in my garden and need to do some dividing and moving of my perennials.

i would not move anything that is near blooming... waiting until after ...

if you cant wait.. water it well.. and move it on a rainy day ... or cloudy ...

If you can, I'd recommend waiting until fall or possibly next spring. Moving things this close to midsummer isn't recommended--puts too much stress on the plant.

As Ken says, if you have no choice but to move it now, try to do it on a rainy or cloudy day and make sure it gets plenty of water to help it settle in its new location.

I put a lawn chair over anything that is going to get limp in the sun....

if moving so late, cut off emerging flower stalks and some foliage,
in order to keep the root stock from deadly dehydration. not much show this summer but good start for next season.
