Delosperma 'Fire Spinner' IS impressive!

I bought a Delosperma 'Fire Spinner' a month or so ago (only $4 by the way! So I didn't break my policy about not buying pricy groundcovers, lol). Amazingly enough, the thing hasn't minded being stuck in its pot all this time due to my laziness/forgetfulness to get around to planting it. In fact it is even blooming...
Delosperma 'Fire Spinner'- Ice Plant

I seem to remember this new intro came up in a thread here awhile back, so thought I would post a picture of it for those that weren't convinced they needed one. I'm here to tell ya' you do! LOL. I am really loving the two tone color on it. And for once the blooms actually match the pictures they have of it online and in mags. Go figure! ;-]

Ooh!! How pretty! I'm always surprised, when this plant comes up in conversation, that I don't have any, because I really do love them!

I will wait and see how yours does over the winter, though. I tried Starburst a few times and it just wouldn't overwinter for me. I've been thinking of trying another one - maybe this one! If it makes it for you it should do well for me.

Thanks for sharing! Beautiful!

Still no blooms here. The other ice plants are blooming fine. I hope it blooms soon!

I have Lavendar Ice. It actually seems to shimmer.

How unusual, and like you say true to it's tag.

I have 6 of these plants in the ground since May and although they are all alive they have not spread very much nary one flower. Has anyone had flowers from this particular 'Delosperma' subsequent to it going in the ground?

Still no blooms here. I emailed High Country Gardens. They told me they would not bloom much this year and would focus on developing roots. Unlike most other Delosperma, this one needs a cold weather period to flower. Apparently many of these were grown in a warm place over winter.

Wow firespinner is really impressive!

I have Lavender Ice and another more dark purple one can't remember the name. Last year I didn't have a single bloom. Mine started out the same size as yours and this year the 6 plants I had in the ground created a carpet covering the entire ground stretching at least 8 feet long. They bloomed profusely this spring but then we had about 2 weeks of rain and have only had a handful of flowers show up here and there since then. Either way I love the way it creates a thick, interesting, groundcover. Really does prefer dry conditions though.

Give it some time and next year I am sure you will be very impressed.

Delosperma dyeri 'Red Mountain' is also good and blooming well the first year. My 'Lavender Ice' is new too and has bloomed all summer so far.
