| I found this growing on the side of a country road. The color is orange and I think the plant has a tap root. |

| Yes its a milkweed. Aesclepias currassavica or A tuberosa. I get them confused . My money is on the tuberose because of hardiness and your area. |

| Yes that's Asclepias tuberosa, common names butterfly weed, orange milkweed. |

| And don't try to transplant it. It's nearly impossible. |

| I just succeeded in transplanting one. It was not as developed as the one pictured. I accidentally cut off part of the root, so was surprised that it made it. I watered it deeply every day, until it was clear it was going to survive, and protected it from the sun for the first couple of days. |

| It does grow very easily from seed. I Winter Sow them each January. |
