| I have a few Dale's Strain heuchera's that look like they need dividing soon. They are flopping in the middle like a big donut and one is not as robust as it usually was.
Is it too late now to divide? Or would I be better off doing it next spring? |

| Hi Kent, I transplant all year summer long, I just can't get it all done in the spring before the heat comes. I am very careful about watering them for a few weeks. I moved an entire hosta bed from one home to another in July two years ago, everything made it just fine. I'm sure others will say otherwise! Lisa |

| I agree with ishareflowers, if you have to move things you can move them now but make sure you keep them watered. Spring is easier because it is the cool rainy season. So the plants are not stressed. |

| If you keep them watered and out of the hot sun, they should be fine. Here's a good video on dividing Heuchera. |

| I've never divided Heuchera, but have divided all sorts of things at all sorts of "wrong" times - and most of the time it works out fine. :0) |

| The heucheras may take a season to recover/snap out of the trauma from being divided but otherwise shouldn't be bothered if you keep them watered and protected from hot sun afterwards. Plants are a lot tougher than many give them credit for. My astilbes were awful crispy after 4 months of drought last year but came back this year like gangbusters. I divided & replanted a giant hosta a couple of weeks ago and the divisions aren't looking their best but they're definitely settling in where I planted them. |

| Thanks all! I don't want to take too much chance so I guess I'll wait for spring when they are dormant still. :) |
